Special Edition - Assassins Creed 2 (Black Edition)

Some might say say that this is an exemplary form of a Special Edition, and is a model for how such things should be put together.  And I cannot say I entirely disagree with this sentiment.  Included within the stylised box are a number of bonus goods, both physical and for in-game use.

The statue is of Ezio, and is identical in pose and size (8.5 inches) to that found within the  White Special Edition excepting only a black hood and a greater part of his shirt coloured likewise.  Which version of the figure looks better is entirely down to the individual, but I personally prefer the contrast of light and dark of this version a touch more.

Also included is a 64-page 'replica leather and hardcover parchment style' book which features preliminary artwork for the sequel and named the 'Conspiracy Book', and a copy of the title's Original Sound Track.  Both fairly standard inclusions for such an edition, but still nice tangible bonuses to have.

In-game content wise, the Black Edition contains all three bonus pieces of content that were made available as various preorder promotions: Santa Maria Dei Frari, the Venetian arsenal shipyard, and the Palazzo Medici Templar lairs.  Nothing too grand or different, game-play wise, but still nice scenic locations to add to the game.

Nota Bene: As noted within other Edition reviews for this game, all three of these in-game locations have since been made available within both the GotY Edition and through the DLC Episeode 'Sequence 13: Bonfire of the Vanities'.

All in all, noting ground breaking or revolutionary content-wise for a Special Edition, but it certainly ticks all the boxes of things that are desired.
