Special Edition - Ghostbusters: The Videogame (Slimer Edition)

As the image above shows, this edition is a veritable treasure trove of goods for the hardcore fan of the series - and given the quality and purpose of the game, that alone should merit a purchase of the title.  Within we find a number of physical items, but no in-game content, all of which was assigned to other other retailers.

First and foremost is the 10" exclusive Slimer Bust designed and sculpted by the original film artist, Steve Johnson.  This comes with a signed certificate of authenticity by the man himself, but many customers have slightly confused the purpose of this certification, believing it is the edition itself that warrants such a declaration.  That would truly allow this side collecting niche to become 'exclusive'.  The piece itself is charming, if not a little garish thanks to Slimer's neon green colouration, but care should be taken as many customers complained upon receiving their copy that the bust had broken in two during postage due to the thinness of the arm attaching Slimer to the Ghostbusters graphic base.

Secondly, we find a unique 'Gamer Graffix' skin, to be attached to the console for which the Edition was purchased.  Allowing owners to show off their Special Edition and.. well... who would't want the Stay Pufft Marshmallow Man to adorn their console?  The decal is vinyl, and  with care can be taken off and reapplied.

Next to be looked at are four 'Minimates' in the guise of entities encountered during the course of the game.  I will own up as to having to lookup what precisely 'Minimates' were upon opening my copy, but they are described as 'block styled action figures' - think the original 90's style figures crossed with Lego.  In addition, the company behind these have also previously released several seasons of Ghostbuster Minimates, so for collectors - again a nice addition.

Finally, there is an 'Ecto-One Keychain' (the car tooled out within the original film).  I'm not sure many would want to use it for its intended purpose, given that it is animated with both lights and sound, and is set off rather easily and unintended.

All told, this is a collectors and/or fanboy paradise.  Everything included is exclusive to this one Edition and cannot be purchased seperately.  The cover is a very nice variant on that of  the Vanilla version, replacing a motley assortment of specters with the titular creature himself.  As a minor aside, many UK customers found they had been sent a Vanilla copy of the game with the physical goods separate, and so released a High-Definition scan of the artwork for printing out.  It is a minor shame that the three batches of exclusive preorder DLC were not included, but in an 'either / or' situation, this is the version of the game that screams 'Get ME', despite the couple of minor issues that came about from it.
