Collectors Edition: Mass Effect 2
Bioware haven't skimped on the content of this Collector's Edition release, providing a nice combination of both physical and in-game content exclusive to this version of the title.
The in-game content consists of the, appropriately named 'Collectors Pack', named after the main enemy encountered throughout the game, and consists of a new armour and assault rifle, named accordingly. Although the weapon proves a powerful in-game asset, the armour is a single set-piece suit which does not allow any player modification. The appearance of both these organic-looking assets is jarringly different from the other, sleeker, default weapons and armour, but as exclusive content goes, they are a nice simple addition, which does not overpower the player or break the game.
The 'Cerberus Network Code' is a Retail Initiative, found in all copies of the game.
The 'Making Of...' DVD and 'Art Book' both provide an interesting look behind the production scenes, including concept ideas that were greatly changed for the final product. The original design for the final encounter divided fans of the game when both were first revealed. Both are short, but sweet
A copy of the 'Original Soundtrack' comprises the third disc within the Edition, which contains 12 original compositions from the game. The selection captures the mood of both the mood of the game and the style of the Mass Effect universe wonderfully.
The final physical bonus is a copy of 'Mass Effect: Redemption #1' Comic, the first part of a mini-series covering the event leading up to this game, which is later explored further in the 'Lair of the Shadowbroker' DLC add-on for the game.
